Down Under Delights

So yes, I admit, I’ve been remiss in my blog postings these days — but the good news is that it’s because I have been traveling the globe scouring the chic-est places for you to visit on your adventures (thanks to a grant to attend a conference in Melbourne and a trip to visit my brother in Singapore).

To begin, we’ll start with a sampling of spots in Australia to whet your appetite. Now if only the Aussie dollar were kinder on our American pocketbooks.

First up, of course, is food. In Melbourne, there are no shortage of great restaurants. We filled our bellies on breakfast at these two top spots:

Outpost Cafe (9 Yarra St., South Yarra, Melbourne) is a sweet (pun intended) spot just around the corner from the famed, yet overpriced, Chapel St. Tangy coffee paired with truffled egg dishes. That’s right. Truffles and eggs. Breakfast doesn’t get any better than that! And even if you’re just stopping here for a snack, you’ll certainly enjoy the modern-rustic ambiance.

Babble Bar and Cafe (4 Izett St., Prahan) is another great breakfast spot (that turns into a bar – even better!) located just around the corner from Prahan Market. We stumbled upon this secluded spot (it is on a side road and therefore away from the noise and bustle of Chapel St.) and greatly enjoyed our breakfast in the Australian sun.

Next up… wine and chocolate. What else?
