A Jungle/Mountain/Chic Oasis

What is Rancho Pacifico, after all? A resort? A spa? A restaurant? An eco-hotel? A jungle retreat? Rancho Pacifico is ALL of those things, and more. I found the place while scouring the internet for a good, out-of-the-way spot near Dominical, Costa Rica. We visited in December of 2009 and loved it so much, we returned in March, 2010. While a good ten minute drive (4×4 required) into the jungle-swathed hills outside of Uvita, this spot is secluded enough for both romance and adventure: just ask CNN reporter, Anderson Cooper, who visited last year. We were lucky enough to stay in a room with an outdoor bathtub and to experience a late day thunderstorm that hushed the normally-vocal cicadas and tropical birds. I highly suggest this hotel, but I also suggest renting your own car to get there (and get around once there) as it is, thankfully so, a bit off the beaten path. (Oh, and it’s also adults-only, so leave the chatty little ones at home!)

ps- Rancho Pacifico also has one of the best restaurants in the area! Lucky for guests as well, breakfast is included in the room rate.
